The term "Accessibility" may have different meaning depending on the context where it is used. In the case of Aiguille du Midi project, the modernisation of the highest elevator in France, with a run of 65 metres at an altitude of over 3800 metres, made accessible an environment that, due to its hostility, would be reachable only by a few experienced mountaineers.
The two modernised elevators represent the culmination of a vertical transport route linking Chamonix to the Rifugio des Cosmiques and its panoramic terrace, with the construction known as "step into the void": a fully glazed parallelepiped allowing a panoramic view of a large part of the Mont Blanc massif.
Wittur has supplied Hydra doors with glass panels. In particular, heated guides have been installed on the cabin door operator to avoid problems in the movement of the doors.
In addition, the entire structure of the operator was made of AISI 304 stainless steel, a material extremely resistant to corrosion.
Another successful special project!
